A lot of people may not have remembered Ron Bicheno as he has been unable to attend matches for years due to ill health (knees to start with) Those that do remember saw him join the Royal Oak Just after we formed when we split from Barnes and Mortlake. He lived in Hounslow for much of his life with his wife Bette and was selling used cars for a living, lately he moved to Chelsea as a pensioner as he was a veteran of the Korean War. Ron never had a bad word to say about anyone no matter what the provocation and was always happy. I remember him fishing a match with us at Bickton Mill on the Hampshire Avon and standing in the mill pool for 6hours in the late October weather happy to be fishing. Ron was a gentleman who had respect for everyone, so long Ron may the fishing be good on that side of the divide. R.I.P Ron Bicheno. Members of the club attended his funeral and a floral tribute was sent to his funeral at Mortlake Crematorium.
